Minnetrista Celebrates the Arrival of GPS Adventures5/31/07

Minnetrista will host an event cache featuring visitors from Groundspeak, Inc., on June 2. Groundspeak, Inc., is located in Seattle, Washington, and was established in the year 2000 to manage geocaching.com, the global headquarters for the worldwide sport of geocaching.

Geocaching was the first activity to combine Global Positioning System technology and the Internet for real-world treasure hunting. Groundspeak continues to develop tools to help GPS enthusiasts create unique adventures in the real world.

To spread the word about GPS technology, and to teach people how it use it, Groundspeak has joined forces with Minotaur Maze Exhibits to create GPS Adventures: From Tracking to Treasure Hunting, which makes its national debut at Minnetrista from June 2 — September 3.

Featured guests from Groundspeak include Jeremy Irish, President and co-founder, Elias Alvord, Vice President and co-founder, Bryan Roth, Vice President and co-founder, and Shauna Maggs, Director of Marketing.

Representatives from exhibit creator Minotaur Maze Exhibits and development sponsor Trimble will also be on site for the opening of the exhibit. Trimble is best-known for GPS technology and also offers integrated solutions allowing customers to collect, manage and analyze complex information.

GPS Adventures features GPS technology; its history, current uses and future possibilities; and simulates the increasingly popular, GPS-enabled sport of geocaching by leading visitors on a search for hidden caches as they gain access to four satellite rooms rich with experiences.

Geocachers are invited to come and meet our friends from Groundspeak, see the exhibit, and enter a drawing for a free GPS receiver, valued at up to $125. Other giveaways featuring products from Trimble, Buji and others sponsors will take place throughout the day.

Join us at 1 p.m. on June 2 at these coordinates: 40 degrees 12.2933°  N Latitude and 085 degrees 23.321 W Longitude. The event cache is free.  Exhibit admission is $4 child/student; $6 senior; $7 adult. Hours are Monday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Sunday, 11 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
